Corporate life can be harrowing sometimes, especially now when people are in constant fear of the company folding because of the economy or losing their job because they underperforming. Thus, everybody is so stressed out and competitive. I guess the culture of fear has been affecting performance. We are a creative company and fear has no room when brainstorming for ideas.
Thus our human resources and training department lobbied for a company outing to boost morale and spirits. Finally, after almost a year of talks and plans, the company finally relented and whisked us all away to the La Manga Club Resort in Murcia, Spain.
I found the resort absolutely perfect because it had everything that we can possibly want. The guys enjoyed numerous golf breaks in between the group dynamics sessions. I even won in one of those golf games. Our women co-workers had fun in the pool area and in the spa rooms, which I heard from one of the guys, provided excellent service.
Their function rooms, where we held our group dynamics sessions were also quite roomy and the staff were very accommodating with all our requests. As you know, creative congress can be weird sometimes. Best of all, I completely enjoyed the food and the accommodation. Although we tried the restaurants, we also had the chance to cook food by ourselves in our cottage. We did some barbecuing and burgers right at the veranda of our cottage. Unlike living in the hotel, I find this spartan living condition, much more enjoyable and relaxing. All in all, it was the best corporate outing ever.
